If you are an independent contractor then your situation is not covered by employment law concepts such as unfair dismissal, however, absent some fundamental breach of your contract with this organisation you will be entitled to claim any money due under the termination clause of the contract, so if the contract is for regular work and the termination clause provides for 4 weeks notice then you should be entitled to sue for that amount.

If they are ignoring you but your entitlement appears clear under the contract terms then you should engage a lawyer with commercial litigation experience who hopefully will be able to convince them of their liability without the need for litigation (organisations often take letters of demand over contractual disputes much more seriously than letters from their contractors directly). If they still won't pay your lawyer will no doubt advise whether the contract terms are clear enough to justify litigation to recover the four week notice payments, at which point litigation is likely your only option.
