The employer terminated my husband's fulltime permanent employment on the basis that there isn't enough work for him, and with a vague offer of possible casual work (unspecified) as a way of 'keeping him with the company'. We consulted Fair Work (website, phone call, calculator online) and Legal Aid on phone and our accountant – the conclusion was 6 weeks' redundancy pay is due. The job finishes tomorrow. The employer claims no redundancy pay is due as they have checked with Fair Work. But they keep saying there just isn't enough work to keep my husband on fulltime. And he hasn't offered an acceptable alternative, so my husband is looking for fulltime work somewhere else.
