Verified How can I, as a resident of Victoria, access legal aid to contest an intervention order taken out by my ex wife who now resides in Darwin with my children?
You can't. Legal Aid sometimes pays for a lawyer to get an extension on an intervention order, but they never pay to fund a lawyer for the chap who the order is taken out on. That is why it is so common for men to be self represented litigants in these types of hearings.
