Good Afternoon

They have no right to amend the invoice and you can sue on the original invoice

You need to write to them and confirm that any payment is a part payment of the initial invoice and that they owe you the balance.

Advise also that if they do not pay in 7 days then you will take the matter to court.

Refer to the agreement you have and assert the invoice was correctly issued under that agreement for the work done.

The GST legislation does permit companies ot issue invoices on behalf of their contractors but it has to be on their own letterhead.

If they are holding out that it is an invoice created by you it is fraud.

The director can be held personally liable for doing this and any other who approves of it and does nothing to stop it they can be also liable.

That is what I am referring to and I do not beleive they have to be of a certain size

There has to be an agreement between the parties.

Your invoice is the correct one. You have not agreed to them issuing the invoices and their invoices are not correct.

An Tax invoice is a legal document and must comply with the Act.

The Act I am referring to is the GST Act

I cannot seem to find any restrictions on who can issue them.

Here is some more information from the ATO

The creating of a tax invoice when it is not yours is a crime under the crimes act.

You can report it to the ATO.

You need to sue for your money and note that they created a duplicate Tax Invoice without your permission and if they signed it then thats worse.
