Dear Sir/madam, a supplier has...

Dear Sir/madam, a supplier has sent in a tax invoice with a different trading name to that which was entered in the receiving company's accounting system. After contacting the supplier and verifying his mistake, he gave me permission to change the name on the invoice (all other detaills including the suppliers name, address, ABN, and bank account were correct and were not changed). This administration correction is allowed for under the ATO's rulings on tax invoices, and what is a tax invoice.
The name was written in large bold print so to correct it I put a piece of paper with the suppliers other trading name, that corresponded to the internal accounting system, over the top of the old name and photo copied it and then submitted this to accounts for payment. I am the manager of this business and have the authority to approve account payments. As a result of this action i have been accused of fraud and deception. Are there grounds for this?

The owner of the business is the person accusing me.
No, I have made detailed notes about the incident and why I took the actions that I did and the supplier is willing to provide me with a letter confirming that I had their authorisation to make the changes, as this is true I did contact him and get his approval. I have not requested this as yet as the allegations have only just arrisen.

I am a farm property manager, with 8 staff working under me. I am responsible for the management of the enterprises croppping and livestock on the farm including the planning, budgeting, and account approval.
The owner has a set against me and is trying get me to leave but because I am doing a good job and enjoy the work (despite his attitude) he has resorted to this. I am obviously leaving but do not wish to leave with an allegation such as this hanging over me.

Good Afternoon

In order for you to have committed fraud you have to have obtained some benefit.

The ATO will accept what you have done as the ABN number is XXXXX the same.

The Police would not see it as a criminal offence and you have not benefited from the changes.

If he continues to make allegations and tells others then you have a right to threaten him with defamation action.

You should get a Solicitor to write to him advising that if he continues to spread the lies and impact on your reputation then you will sue for damages.

You have nothing to worry about except his lies impacting on your reputation.
