I am an app developer. I developed an app for a company. It was 99% completed then the client decided they no longer had time for it, they asked me to sell it on their behalf in lieu of final payment. The total project was $20,000. They paid $16,000 in total. They said that if I sold the app for over $20k I would get back what I was owed plus 50% over any funds fetched over the $20k. I agreed to this arrangement. However after being on the market for 18 months it did not sell after many inquiries. They have just come back to me now and asked for me to go back on that deal, they want the app so they can run the business. However in the past 18 months the app has gone completely out of date, apple no longer support the software. It would cost at least $10k in programming fees to get it up to scratch. They are not willing to pay that money. So now they are trying to enforce the original development agreement where I deliver an app to them for the remaining $4k. If I fail to do that by a certain date then they are demanding a full refund of $16k. In my mind the original contract / agreement is void. They wanted me to sell the app, in that time it has gone completely out of date. Can you please advise. … read more
