I am a very small contractor who removes chewing gum,and cleans pavements,using a steam cleaner.I have being doing this work for 12 years,and have never had a complaint.

On 23march,I,and my associate pulled into a parking zone outside Blacktown Stn.We proceeded to clean and remove gum.Parking was governed by a time limit pole.There was a car parked in the same spot for over 2.5 hours.Because of the nature of the surface,the car got splashed with dirt.We hosed the dirt off using our lance,which when held at a distance of 50 cm from the car produces a max temp of 40 degrees C. Later,the car was rubbed down with a fresh towel.

When the car owner came back,he said he could still see a spot on the pillar between the driver side rear window and rear window.I got the lance and gave the area a quick flick.He then took the lance from me,and directed it at the drivers side doors of the car .

He then went to where i had just flicked down and held up a 25cm sq of plastic film

which seemingly the car was coated in.I said I would pay to have thismall piece of damage repaired,although I doubted we had caused the damage.

He rang me 11 days later and said he had a bill for $1356,when I said 'for 25 cm/sq '

He said when the car doors he sprayed,they were damaged [the plastic film]

in 11 days he did not notify me.I think he is pulling a scam,as he originally told me the person he was taking it to was a friend
