VerifiedI am unsure why you believe the matter in the Victorian Magistrates Court has been stayed, but hopefully you have at least lodged a Defence to their Statement of Claim.
Once you do, now that the directors of this company that has sued you agree that the person who instigated legal proceedings on their behalf did not have the authority to do so, you have grounds to bring a summary judgement application to have their action dismissed.
Regarding the lawyers, they were likely duped by this chap who held himself out as having such authority on behalf of the company. The best you can do regarding that is make a complaint to the Victorian Law Institute and see if they take the matter any further.
