What do I do as a spouse if my husband did not have a will about death benefit and his superannuation if there are children form a previous marriage and there is no beneficiary on the benefit?

Did he have a property settlement re his previous marriage, and if so was the super taken into account in this settlement? And, at date of death was he supporting the children?
