VerifiedYou simply need to inform the Australian consulate in the US when the child is born. Because one parent is an Australian when the child will be born, the child will automatically be an Australian citizen.

Q: ok, would this information be soley for the australian consulate to ensure citizenship?
A: Yes and no. The consulate will likely pass it on to the department of births, deaths, and marriages so they can update their records as well.
