Hello, we are employed by a proprietry limited company who have been working with the nt government business section to form an alliance of contractors who are conjointly able to provide the services required of a larger contract. The accountant has suggested that we are able to set up a division of this company as the alliance which will give it its own abn. Is there anything we can find out about the alternatives to setting up this alliance. To tender for jobs, the tender has to be awarded to one abn and we would like this to be under the alliance name and not our own company name as has happened in the past. We perceive that we would set up the alliance with its own name and abn as a part of this company and would have an agreement with other contractors to perform their part of the works. We will not be adding to the costs of the other contractors that they submit for their part of the works of the contract as such. We would be meeting to allocate the works and then submit prices for each section - add together - and submit. It is probably going to be within the agreement that the project manager and administrative costs be paid by the contractors (of course this would be a part of their costing). As the base of the alliance, the majority of the administrative works will be done by this office with the project manager being picked from the group of contractors who will be working on the project. This will be a group decision.
