If he was driving a good car, was well dressed, etc, this might indicate that he is a person who might pay; but from what you have said, recovery might be difficult. It will cost you to get the judgment - you could do this yourself if you are prepared to persist with all the paperwork.

But you will then in all probability have to take some form of enforcement action, which will increase the costs. If he has a steady job, getting paid a regular salary you can enforce a judgment by garnishing his wages. But you would have to know about this before you started ideally.
