Thank you for getting back to me. The bashings took place while we were under their care (my fathers and our step mothers care) - for me from the age of 6-8 to the age of 19 - when I was told by my step mother that it was about time I moved out. The police were called by one neighbour once when my father threw a hammer at my brother. I was not there at the time but apparently my brother was playing with remote controlled cars in my neighbours yard with my neighbours boyfriend and (Colin - my brother came home to get something to do with the cars), my father allegetately said something along the lines of "only babies play with cars". My brother said "why don't you just let me do what I [email protected]#n want to do - it's not your business anyway". My father than threw the hammer. That is just one circumstance and that is just the lightest thing we had to go through. No one called the police or tried to help us because I think they were turning a blind eye - how do you report a neighbour for abuse in the 80's - it wasn't quite the same as now.

It's not only the physical abuse that we have received but the emotional abuse that I am concerned about, I have been cut out of the family because I show normal emotional despair. Every time I show natural emotional despair they tell me I have mental issues. I am now completelety cut off from the family as my step mother and biological father have (brainwashed) my half brother against me. We (my half brother) and I used to get on quite well but over the past 9 years my step mother has tried - including prank calls to me to drive a wedge between me and my step brothers relationship. She has succeeded as he doesn't talk to me anymore - same as my other brothers and sister - this family is such a mess - it wasn't before - so why now?
