I am looking for some VCAT advice in relation to a sub-tenant in the apartment which I am leasing. I am the original tenant on the lease. I subletted the room with the landlord's permission. I've just had a sub-tenant who moved out secretly without letting me know. The rent and bills were due on the 7th of August. As soon as I notified him of the payment being due, he moved his stuff overnight and left the apartment. Fortunately, I have a $2,000 bond which I took at the start which can more than cover the costs of the arrear payments.
