hi changing his plea to a plea of guilty is not going to make that much of a difference.
It is not uncommon to plead not guilty and then change. Your son should also have the benefit of receiving a police brief as he has pleaded not guilty and will see what the police is relying on.
You have to take the penalty of the co-accused as a guide to what your son may get. The role your son played is also important if his role in the offence was not passive as the so-accused being solely the driver the court will look at the facts surrounding the theft.
You sons previous offences will also play a roe in what his sentence will be.
He should bring with him references from his employer that will; show him as a hard working trustworthy young man. The Solicitor who represents him will need to make submissions on your sons behalf to the court to get as lenient a sentence as possible.
