The short answer to your question is yes, you can ask for a refund.
The Fair Trading Department of Queensland offers information on what the Dealer should have disclosed at time of auction, including whether or not the vehicle is a repairable write off - and in this case a lack of disclosure is a clear breach of the Dealers responsibility to you as a consumer. See the link below for further information:

If the Dealer does not offer the refund, lodge a complaint with Fair Trading also from the link above.
