Sorry, this is going to be a explanation. I live in
I live in Queanbeyan NSW. I received a text message from my real estate on the 22nd of January saying I owed $110 on my rent which is paid direct debit of $440 every week. When I called the real estate to question it, they said it's a glitch in the system and I don't owe any money. I kept receiving messages each week so I called again today. The receptionist said the rent had increased by $10 a week which had taken place in January. I questioned how this would add up to $170 if it's only been a month. She said she'd get the agent for my property to call me. When she called back, she said it was actually increased in August and that explains the amount. I said I don't understand why the first person I spoke to said it was a glitch and I didn't owe any money. Then she said she sent a letter detailing the rent increase in August but only has proof that she sent it, not that I received it. She said sorry but that's not her fault, that's just how the system works. I have been with this rental agency for years and never had a problem. I also asked why, when they had both mine and my husbands email addresses and phone numbers, they didn't follow this up sooner and the only thing I can do is send the real estate a letter to the landlord to complain and that I do not wish to backpay money I didn't know I owed. … read more

My question is to do with real estate and dates back to
My question is to do with real estate and dates back to 2013. The company I work for was in renting commercial premises in Darlinghurst NSW for approximately 6 years and had paid a bond deposit of $18,150. The property was being managed by a real Estate agent in Elizabeth Bay. In the lease agreement it was mentioned that there would be an annual increase in rent of 3%. The client's real estate agent did not charge this 3% increase. At the end of the tenancy we did everything that was asked of us, e.g. cleaned the premises returned the key and wanted to get out bond back but the landlord withheld the bond (also threatened my current employer). He's theory was that we owed all the outstanding rent as the real estate had not charged the 3% increase and we never received the bond back. I want to know if firstly it was out fault that we hadn't paid the 3% increase – we were paying the invoices the real estate sent us. In that instance could the bond be withheld in these circumstances and lastly is there any way to retrieve this bond money at this point in time? Thanks … read more
