First of all, are you an applicant on any of the credit cards?
Secondly, when you say "if something happens", are you referring to him defaulting on the payments or a seperation within the marriage?
Do you hold any assets in joint names such as a home?

The answers are:
You stated: I don't apply for any credit card and I don't need one.
My response: No problem, just checking to make sure your name was not on the credit card accounts
You stated: My husband has a good job but what if he is laid off?
My response: He would need to make arrangements with his finance companies - banks, credit card ect if there is a risk of him defaulting in the loans and make repayment arrangements, perhaps he will get a delayed "hardship" period to help out with not paying any monthly payment for 3 months (but interest still accrues) until he gets another job.

My response: Sorry, this is a new question altogether seperate to the credit card question, its a very long answer depending on the overall circumstances of the marriage itself, I suggest you post a new question for the answer to this one.

My response: OK, if he can not pay his debts as and when they fall due the worse case scenario is that he will have to sell the home to pay the debts unless the bank does that first.
