Q: Is this the same as a criminal conviction?
A: Yes.
A conviction means that the court has found you guilty or accepted your plea of guilty. It does give rise to a criminal record, however, if you keep your nose clean for the next 5 years without obtaining any more convictions, your record will lapse in Queensland - and you can then say that you have 'no convictions'.
If you do obtain more convictions in the next 5 years, this will not apply.
