I am in Victoria. My daughter had a flat car battery
I am in Victoria. My daughter had a flat car battery replaced on site by the RACV roadside assistance service. The next day the car again would not start. She had the RACV again assess this, it was now deemed to have an issue with the starter motor which could not be repaired by them on site. She accessed a mobile mechanic who quoted a cost of $475.00 for a new starter motor. This task was completed on 11th June on the street where the car had broken down. She remained present whilst the repair was completed. The mechanic asked her to turn the engine on, within a few seconds, she was instructed to turn it off as he claimed that there was a danger of a fire in the motor. The mechanic stated that he would enquire of his mates as to what the new problem could be. It was the long weekend so on the Tuesday I consulted the mechanic who regularly services this car. He was able to find a mechanic close to where the car was. Arrangement was made for it to be towed the following Monday. The repairs required a new altenator and replacement of battery cable and fuse. The cost of these repairs was $1311.95.00. It was suggested verbally that the starter motor had been incorrectly fitted which resulted in the further damage. Do I have any way to seek redress for this from the 1st mechanic. I have paid all these accounts, the car is in my name. She has full use of it. Thankyou, ***** ***** … read more

My dad who is 91 had a medical episode on Friday night and had left a tap running as he was walking backwards and forwards trying to clean up something that he had spilt. He was unconscious for several hours and when he came to we was unable to get up and as a consequence of the running tap (and being unaware of a tree root problem in his pipes) he overflowed his sink and flooded his whole unit (a three bedroom unit). He was down on the floor from about 4.00 pm until just after midnight when he finally managed to get himself back up. Due to the lateness of the hour he did not contact us … read more
