Victoria. I have been in a rental for 3 months now - both
I have been in a rental for 3 months now - both hot water systems in the house (upstairs and downstairs) have both blown up since living here. It has been proven that the down strairs hot water system has been dripping under the floor from a crack in the shower for longer than we have tenanted the home. this has resulted in black mould being under all of the carpet down stairs - so therefore uninhabitable - this was brought the landlords attention 2 months ago and nothing has been done about it. there is now mushrooms growing through the floor - we have been told not to use the shower. Therefore the whole downstairs of the property has been considered un-inhabitable by an insurance company. This was 2 weeks ago this had been brought the property owner and agency straight away 2 weeks ago and nothing has been followed through with. I have continued to pay rent and am curious if i am eligible for compensation? … read more

I am a 6. New South Wales. I'm in Eden, Pearl,, I'm a 62
I'm in Eden, Pearl, my name's Brett Ralph, I'm a 62 year old pensioner and I've been asking my realtor to fix my leaking shower recess, which leaks every shower so bad I have to mop it up, since believe it or not, November 2014. Four lots of builders have come and gone and failed. The last, in 2018, stating I need a new recess. I was a homeless guy when I moved into this flat.Housing folk found me the cheapest in town, at the time. It was rented me with the faulty shower, a faulty stove with one knob on it, no smoke alarm and unsecurable rotten timber windows. Most of which I was unaware of initially and most has been fixed. All be it, two years after I'd moved in. After complaining about the leaking shower every fortnight rent day, still nothing's done. Now I've discovered in my unused second bedroom, the leaking recess has leaked through the wall into the built in wardrobe, in the adjoining room, a lot.. Weeks ago now I told the realtors. Eden Realty. Pearl, am I eligible for any compensation, litigation etc etc..I'm a battler and I've been paying rent for more than four years and not getting what I pay for? … read more
