It is not uncommon that married couples remain living in the same house and are seperated.
They have to put on additional evidence to show they are seperated to the court.
In these circumstances it may be in your friends best interests to seek orders that she not reside in the house on the farm.
He will have to file an application in the Family Court of Western Australia and seek the orders. I also suggest that he make the application for property settlement. Deal with it all at once. Seek interim orders that she not live in the house and that she reside in the unit in Perth. and orders that they split the property of the marriage. If he can get her to agree by consent then this can all be done with lower costs and less stress.
