I am sorry to hear that he was found not Guilty
It is correct that you cannot bring past convictions during a hearing. The Court must determine if a person is guilty of an offence from the evidence of that offence not based on past crimes.
If you feel that the DPP did not do its job correctly then I suggest you talk to them pointing out what they missed and try and get them to lodge an appeal against the decision. Unless they can show that there was something that the Judge missed or that the Judge made an error in law an appeal will be difficult.
If the DPP will not listen then I suggest you go directly to the Attorney generals department and see if they can help.
Had he benn found guilty then his previous convictions could be raised when it came to sentencing him.
