Just over one litre and nothing happens when key is turned except system check message says OKAm very deaf so prefer in writing

No sound at all might not be a bad thing, because it more likely to be electronic or electrical issue.

turn key nothing happens except system check lights and says OKSmall country and local mech says engine stuffed and $5000 plus to repair 235000 ks , 30,000 in last 7 yearsi.e small country towncannot uderstand how engine could seize with NO heat generated although local mech says that is possible?

He says the engine is seized, that is a fact?

He has proven he can't turn over with a breaker bar on the crankshaft?

Yes, engines can seize in a short period with little warning.

$5000, that's a bit steep.

Only his word, and this happened after a 120 ks with no warning lights during trip just became mor sluggish until stopped? That was his estimate and I agree $5g souns very highStill dont get how engine could seize with no heat generated oillevels Ok coolant ok and engine compartmnt cool as wellSurely for engine to seize a lot of heat must be generated?Are u still thereDon't know if he tried to rotate engine with bar?Thanks. What do you think my next move should be?

I've seen many engines seize with no apparent external reason.

V6 in VY, last of Ecotec V6 are a good engine, I have seen less than 5 in my time.

I would ask him to prove he can't turn the engine by hand.

Then if so, look for a good 2nd hand engine.

Even a reconditioned engine and labour would be less than 5k.
