thank you
AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

Hello there,

If you have the correct weight of gas in there now, my bet is the ECM is the cause.

I've had many with open circuit compressor clutches, and many ECMs that the low side driver circuit fails.

I have a few test ECMs at work, where the engine runs fine, only no a/c.

I'll see if I can rustle up a circuit for you.

It works perfect 50% of the time. Then it drops out then comes back on randomly, pressure are fine and its not cutting out on high pressure, sometimes works for weeks with no problems
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
have changed relay and pressure switch on condensor also.
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
are you in brisbane Gary?
AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

Yes, I'm in Brisbane.

Sounds like you have an intermittent issue.

Did you replace the filter in the condensor when you replaced the compressor?

Did you make the oil volume correct, since a new compressor has more oil than you need. It's oil is for a brand new empty system.

replaced condensor as it was damaged by a rock, system was flushed at the time, clutch isnt engaging when ac not getting cold
AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

Ok.

Does it have the cooling module under the LHF bumper bar?

Gary

Ask Your Own Australia Car Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
im not sure the ah has cooling module, hence the need for a wiring diagram
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
i havent looked under inner guard, I know the TS has probs with it
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
I dont have the car with me as its a customer car
AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

Ah yes, TS can have the cooling module depending on model.

Hopefully I can get you a circuit diagram shortly.

For curiosity, does the 12v positive or the ECM switched ground disappear at the compressor when it drops out?

I havent look that far as everytime Ive been to look its been working fine, except for one time it stopped then came back on after 15mins, just wanted to know what else controlled the comp and radiator fans. im suspecting ecm or controller panel in dash wasnt sure if there was a ac controller or if it runs off engine ecm

Im an auto electrician by the way.. :)
AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

I'm glad that you are an auto electrician.

Does this Astra have climate control or normal?

I've never had a wiring fault on astra a/c, but had ecm failures and the occasional ecc module.

The circuit diagram is bit harder to access now.

I hope to have one soon.

its just normal manual ac, ive tried everywhere to get a diagram the haynes manual is useless. its a very odd problem as it works fine for days at a time then nothing for a day then back on (according to customer)
AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

Hope this works:

http://www.allcarmanuals.com/factory-service-manual-159-Opel-Astra-H.html

It appears to be the whole manual.

No luck with diagram Gary it won't open. It thinks about it but doesn't load
AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

I've had a look myself, it is certainly not a factory manual like it says.

I'll look some more tomorrow.

Another thing is whether it has any codes set in the ECM, like P0530 or P1530.

Good night for now.

Gary

No codes thanks for checking good night
AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

I have had another look around for an AH A/C circuit diagram, but alas cannot find anything decent.

I have lost my TIS access at the moment, but I might be able to get one today at work.

AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

Unfortunately I can't get a circuit diagram today.

I'll open your question to another tech if you like.
