Hello Simon,

Sounds like a weeping fuel injector.

Does it blow any black smoke straight after start up?

Gary

Hi Gary,

No black smoke, sounds like its running on 2 cylinders, the whole engine shudders until its warm, once its warm it starts fine everytime.

Its a petrol model so no injectors, and its been doing it for ages.

Cheers,

Simon

AU Auto Mechanic: Gary, Australia Car Mechanic replied 7 months ago

Hi Simon,

Even being petrol, it will have injectors, unless it has a carburettor, lol.

If there is no smoke, it must be lean on one or two cylinders at cold start.

How does it perform under power?

Hi Gary,

It performs fine when its warm, no problems there.

Simon

Hi Simon,

I would have the injectors removed for an off-car injector clean.

I would also give the engine an upper cylinder clean with Subaru cleaner.

Then reevaluate cold start.
