Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

There are many possible causes for the engine dying and it will require some testing to determine what is going on.

The engine light has come on because the engine controller has seen a failure and set fault codes. The first step in diagnosing the problem will be to use a scan tool or code reader to see what fault codes have set and then testing can be done from there based on the findings.

Have you read the codes?
