I have a Mazda tribute and the battery has been discharging

Customer Question

Hi. I have a Mazda tribute and the battery has been discharging so I have been trying to identify the cause. When the battery is disconnected with the engine running. I,m assuming the alternator wasn,t putting out any voltage . The main problem now is that the starter motor won,t operate and there is a flashing red light on the panel indicating that the engine is immobilised, how to I reset the security system. Thanks .Bob

Hi Bob,

One thing not to do on late model cars is disconnect the battery with the engine running.

More than likely a main fuse or more is blown.

The vehicle needs a scan for codes.
