Ok, so what you are saying is that there is no starter operation, is that correct? Do you know if any parts have been replaced or what the mechanic may have checked?

I have had a lot of carbon from exhaust. on a drive, before this happened. On trying to start after that It kicked over and had its usual start then progressed to over pre ignite,, then cut out. the starter will try to start but no results. Nothing turns , have to check what my mechanic replaced last service I had.not so long ago.. it is 10 pm here on the Qld border and I wont be able to find the docket until I can get into my car , it covered please understand I am 78 years of age.. My thoughts are when the new battery was put in in November 1916, the computer was not reset. ? also have used a injector additive.. against my judgement, I feel this could have upset the injector's also we can look at spark, fuel etc. I am not a mechanic, cannot work on this as I have pacemaker and that bans me from mechanical work. !! it's pain in the butt, asit is in wonderful condition bodywork. BUT motor. leaves a lot to be desired Marty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, so it sounds like you are saying that the starter turns the motor but the motor won't fire. One of the simplest tests that the mechanic can perform is to disable the fuel pump then try starting the car with a starting spray. If the motor will fire when he sprays the starting spray into the air intake we know that the ignition system is working and there is a problem with the fuel system. If the motor will not fire on the starting spray then the problem is with the ignition system. Get back to me with the results when you can and I will advise you from there.
