Customer Question

I'm just looking at buying this 2004 x-trail 2.5. I have driven it and it runs really well, no rough running at all but when at idle in neutral or park the revs are hunting up and down between 1000 and 2500.
JA: Is the rough idle intermittent or consistent?
Customer: It's not actually rough idling its just going up and down almost unnoticable but yes it is consistent
JA: What year is your 2500?
Customer: 2004
JA: Are you fixing your 2500 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing yet but I thought I might run a couple of tins of injector cleaner through it
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hi .

What needs doing is the throttle body needs cleaning and then resetting .

A scan tool is needed to reset the throttle body and relearn the idle .

You could first try the manual relearn of the car first if does not work you will need the scan tool .

If Check engine light ON then first check for malfunction codes may have a bad TPS APP sensor etc.
