Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

Assuming the linkage from the handles to the latch is intact and nothing foreign was closed in the door then not opening is due to a failed latch. The latch will need to be replaced to repair the issue.

What will need to be done is remove the door panel and inspect the linkage. If ok then the latch can be broken/cut/dismantled until the pawl can be reached and moved to open the door manually, and then the latch can be replaced.
