Customer Question

I've got a fault with the RH rear indicator. When the RH indicator is turned on, the rear bulb doesn't illuminate fully (like a dim glow), and the RH and LH reversing lights also glow dimly. It looks like there is a short between the reversing lights and the RH rear indicator bulb somewhere. There's no problem with the LH indicator. Also the RH reversing light doesn't work. Jaguar S Type 2003, 2.5 V6
JA: Do you have the trouble code? Do you have a code reader or scan tool?
Customer: No, unfortunately not.
JA: Not a problem. You can work with the Mechanic to figure that out. What is the model/year of your Jaguar?
Customer: 2003 S-Type 2.5. 6 V
JA: Are you fixing your S-Type yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: All fuses are ok (e.g. F48), all bulbs are checked, cable connection ok.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hello there,

Sounds like you have a poor ground on the RH rear indicator lamp socket.

You'll need a digital meter to measure the resistance of the ground circuit.

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Thanks Gary, it is obvious that poor ground is the reason for the problem.
I do not have a digital meter here and I am far away from next service station.
Which cable is responsible for the ground circuit of the indicator lamp socket?
Regards, Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,

Locating a circuit is difficult for me.

Do you have a wiring diagram?

You'll need a dvm to help you locate the issue.
