Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

An internal trans failure or extremely low fluid can cause slipping but it sounds as if you may have a broken CV joint. A broken CV joint will prevent the transmission from applying power to the wheels and would explain why the vehicle rolls in park.

Was/is there any abnormal noise from the trans?
