I need to remove the stereo so i need to know how to remove the dash
JA: Is this an aftermarket stereo, or did it come with the car?
Customer: after market
JA: What is the model/year of your Subaru?
Customer: 1998 WRX
JA: Are you fixing your WRX yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I haven't tried anything as I don't know how to get into the dash; no obvious screws to remove...

Most aftermarket radios have a "trim ring" around them that just snaps into place- you just pull it off. Then they are slid into a metal frame that has been inserted into the dash, and use a slim flat metal "key" to unlock them from this frame- or, if you can access around the edges of the frame, can use a pick or thin screwdriver to pry the tabs downward that hold the frame from pulling out of the dash. Most of the time the install is not very well done and it can be removed easily
