My oil pressure gauge has gone to zero in my car and the oil

Customer Question

My oil pressure gauge has gone to zero in my car and the oil light is on looking underneath the car there seems to be oil everywhere around the oil pan I've checked the oil level and it's fine what would be your diagnosis for this as I'm suspecting the oil pump or seal has gone? Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated before I take it to the local mechanic

Hi there,

I would say you have a oil pressure gauge sensor with a ruptured diaphragm.

If it just happened, it doesn't take much to make a mess of oil.

I would suggest towing the vehicle to avoid making more mess.

How expensive is this or should I expect to pay for this type of repair? Is it a major?
Expert:  Gary replied 11 months ago.

It won't be too bad if that is the cause.

I would say about $250, including clean up etc.
