Expert's Assistant chatimg
Customer: I went to pull into roadside petrol station when i went to pull into the park the car cut out.. We looked under bonnet to find that the top heater hose was split. I habe since replaced the hose but car wont start. Could it possibly be a head gasket or water pump?
JA: Figuring out why a car won't start can be a challenge - it could be a simple repair, or something a bit more complicated. Fortunately, the mechanic I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: Yes a friend who was a mechanic has offered to help fix
JA: Great! What have you tried so far?
Customer: No
JA: Is there anything else the Mechanic should be aware of about your car?
Customer: The inspect sign came on dash before i always went to start the car and the spanner light was on but went off before it happened. I only just got a major service a month ago
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

Hi there,

Can you give make, model and year please?

2004 Holden Astra
Hatchback Auto

Hi there,

There could be many reasons why the engine won't start.

Did you have any sign of overheating prior to stopping?

Which hose did you replace, a heater hose or top radiator hose?

You could have a head gasket failure, but we need some more tests carried out.

Can we get a scan done on the vehicle please?

Top radiator hose
no overhearing prior to stopping

Ok, where is the car now, at home?

Do all the lights in the instrument cluster come on when you turn the key, two yellow lights and nothing flashing?

Have you replaced the hose?

Hello again,

I would like to help you here, but I have had no reply for 4 days now.

Do you still need help with your problem?

I hope my advice has been of assistance to you.

Kind regards
