Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

A single click from the starter is usually a failure of the starter itself. This is usually caused by the contacts in the solenoid.

A poor connection or loss of positive voltage to the solenoid wire could cause this also. What you would want to do is test the starter positive feed, the engine ground, and with the key held in the crank position ensure that power is constant on the solenoid wire at the starter. If ok and you're able to turn the engine by hand then the issue is the starter.
