Hi there,
I assume you intend a 'dual fuel' setup, & the pump is to feed fuel to a carburettor. The usual way to do this is to retain the original fuel tank & pickup/sender unit, & fit an in-line low pressure pump in the fuel line beside the tank.
An ex EFI pump will be unsuitable in two ways - you won't be able to retrofit one to an early tank design without serious work (that answers the question I guess), & the fuel pressure will be far too high for a carburettor..
I hope this helps!
