Customer Question

Hi - have you seen 2012 holden captiva's electrics (GPS radio a/c) being affected when screen gets hot? Works perfectly once the evening cools down. Very disconcerting

Hi there,

I am a Holden Technician, so I'll will offer to help you.

Is your vehicle still under warranty?

The Navigation screens are known for going blank intermittently.

The NAV screen is the "HUB" for the radio and A/C.

Is this the problem you are having?

Gary. The GPS has played up a bit but we had a very hot day yesterday and it went completely off as did a/c and radio. Have only had this car for about 8 months and not sure if still covered by warranty. Have an excellent mechanic but because of holiday monday not there till tomorrow. Going on an 8hour trip friday and weather due to be HOT. Have heard many vad reviews about this car especially elecrtrics and am quite nervous now! Should i be thinking of getting out of it? Ali

Hi Ali,

If it is the only issue with your car, they aren't too bad.

If yours is a Diesel, they are very bad for oil leaks.

Expensive job if out of warranty.

The Nav screen is about $1500.

Personally, I would not own a Captiva.

Thankyou Gary - are you able to recommend a SUV with better fuel economy and reliability? I would appreciate your opinion. Ali

Hi Ali,

Does it need to be a 7 seater?

If not, I would look at a Toyota RAV 4.
