Mazda Mx6 j-specs: My 93 Mazda mx6 j-specs has been over revving

My 93 Mazda mx6 j-specs has been over revving especially when reversing... I found the first (I think it's a piston or a pushrods- sorry I don't know) with lots of oil in it. Is this bad news? Please can somebody help .? Many thanks pj

It sounds as if the transmission is slipping. If the engine revs too high and the car doesn't pull then the trans is slipping. This could be an internal failure or possibly just low fluid level.
Does the engine rev higher than it should and it doesn't pull with normal power?
Can you describe the exact location where you found oil?
Does the engine seem to run normally?
