Customer Question

Hi, I have a 1997 gdi pajero, I am having major issues with it, two different mechanics/garages have tried to fix it ($4200.00) out of pocket an still have the issue.
In neutral at half throttle it hunts in drive at 80ks it will surge and has a loss of power, on short trips ( under 10min traveling time) it's normally ok , the issue is interment, it is also heavy on fuel and at times you can also smell the fuel. Please please help.

My name is ***** ***** I am a professional here at Just Answer. I noticed that your question was not getting a response and thought I would see if you still need help with this.I apologize for the delay and I hope I can still assist you with this here.
My info is limited on your model here but I see no one else has responded and thought I would see if I can help here.
On some models the engine computer uses a mass air flow sensor to tell how much air flow is entering the engine. If this sensor is sending an incorrect signal this fault here can occur. If this has not been checked to see if first your vehicle has this sensor then to see if this sensor is reading incorrectly this needs done.
Thanks Pete
