Holden Omega: , the other day I hit a pothole in my clients

Customer Question

Hi, the other day I hit a pothole in my clients driveway & now my 2007 Holden Commodore Omega's making a loud rattle (like a China plate rattling on a washing machine) when the car is in drive; at low speed & idling. Any idea what this maybe?

Hi there,
I work for Holden, so I'll see if I can help you.
Maybe you have a broken front link pin, or have damaged the centre muffler.
Where abouts is the sound coming from?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Hi thanks for your reply. It's coming from the left hand side wheel engine area. Are either of these 2 expensive to repair?
Expert:  Gary replied 2 years ago.
Hi again,
The important thing is, if you are still the driving the car, does it drive normally,
steering wheel straight, doesn't pull one way etc?
Might not too bad depending on what the problem is.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes it's still driving normally just the rattle is quite bad when driving slow or in park sounds like something is going to rattle itself off if that makes sense
Expert:  Gary replied 2 years ago.
That's a good sign if the car still drives normally.
Sounds like a broken LH linkpin (ties the swaybar to the front control arm, one each side).
Could also be LH inner guard moulding, but you have described it as a bad "rattle".
I would get it looked at asap.
Have you had a look yourself? Do you see anything out of place?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok um no I wouldn't know what I was looking at, I recorded the sound if that's any help. Any idea how much with might be?

I understand, that's why we are here. To help you.
I'd say if it is a bro***** *****nk pin (or loose), you certainly would have a dinner plate noise.
On a VE they are made as LH or RH, so you might not both.
A LH linkpin fitted would about $120 fitted, 1/2 hour plus the part.
Still get it looked at asap, your tyres might suffer from accelerated wear if you leave it too long.
