Hi,

It is fairly unlikely to be immobilizer related based on what was being done. It seems more probable that fuse(s) were blown by accident and may be causing your issues, assuming he did not accidentally cut into wires he shouldn't have.

What exact effects are you experiencing (no crank, no start, warning lights on dash on or not coming on, etc)?

ok car turns over, but no spark, all the warning lights are now popping up on dash. coil has been replaced, while at garage.. but still same issue, turn on all fine, try to start car turns over but doesn't fire, all the lights start showing up on dash after cranking...all fuses have been checked by auto sparky. no wires where cut as when car was purchased there was no radio and has not had one for over five yrs all wires had been taped off..

If you unhook the earth lead from the battery for 2 minutes and reconnect, is there any change in the condition?

No, still turns over but dont fire

Thanks. XXXXX'm not sure what could have been done to lock up the Smartlock, try the reset procedure:

Lock all of the doors, wait for 2-3 minutes, they use the key to unlock the drivers door. Compare behavior after that. If it has no effect, we will try the alternate method (takes longer, so we'll try the key method first).

Last ditch here if you definitely do not have any fuses blown.

Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to ON
Turn off all accessories that would drain the battery
Close all of the doors (leave one window down)
Wait for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes have passed, turn the key to Start (do not turn it back to off first, go straight to Start).

Hopefully that gets it, as those are the only two self-reset procedures I am aware of for Smartlock. Let me know how you do.

unfortunately this failed to work, would changing ecu and smartlock with another wrk? or just create more problems?

Hmm... I would be afraid to try that at the risk of causing more issues that may be more difficult to overcome. Those are the only two work arounds I know for when smartlock is on. Unfortunately I think it may need a trip to the dealer to see if the system is malfunctioning and why.

well actually i tried the 30min reset again and it wrked, but when switched car off... same prob, so did reset again car started. so i guess the smartlock needs replacing, as the little red lite no longer pops up on dash, an car will start if i use the 30 min reset each time.....

Hi,

It sounds like that may be the case. Either something has poofed in there or perhaps we may have somehow nacked one of the wires for it during the radio work.

I'm glad to hear it was able to reset, that was confusing me a bit there. At least now you can get the vehicle running enough to bring it in for hands on diag/replacement of the smartlock if necessary without needing a tow.
