I assume you meant you have a 2000kg Trailer. The towing capacity of all the cars you mentioned is capable of towing this vehicle. however, I would be looking for something with a solid rear axle. IF the total weight of the trailer is 2000kg, then the Holden utes may not be up to the task. The Ford utes should be ok if you fit the HD tow pack. I would stay away from the wagons. Another alternative is the patrol or landcruiser utes or wagons. tough as nails, fuel efficient, and go anywhere you point them. Anything with an independent rear end will be asking for trouble as I dont believe they are up to towing loads. Suspension and tyre wear will be your enemy in that case. Best value for money would be any of the ford utes in the six or six turbo. You will need to get the HD tow pack installed and may still need to use load levelers. If your looking to go off road then the Patrol ute 4.2 turbo or the wagon in the 3.0 Look for one with a few years on it and you might pick up a bargain. Both these and the Land Cruisers have a towing capacity of around the 3365kgs mark.

Hi Mark
Thanks for your reply.
Yes I hadbeen towing my trailer with a ford falcon 4000cc ute 1996 xh with HD tow bar only and the 6 leaf springs wasnt under too much strain. I used it for 2 years towing and had it for 10 years and my mate wrote it off. So I am having to replace it. The trailer is a juice trailer and has fridges freezer appliance and fruit and weight depends varys. Usually 1600kg but can be 2000kg.
I was trying to stay away from the bigger 4x4 vehicles as I had a toyota hilux before and got tired of the heavy truck form. That was why I thought about a station wagon.
I did find out that the holden s/w would need hd towbar and kit and holden was $2,000 just for the kit. What do you think.
Thanks
Ok
The holden people said if the kit is put on then the vehicle is capible of 2,100kg braked . As I do need it to be with in the law as then no unforseen probs. Also will the 1,600kg original springs be under too much strain for the 2,000kg trailer?
Is the coil springs on the holden as strong as the leaves on the ford ute?
Then compare the holden ute 3800cc in towing to the holden commadore what would be the difference on performance.
The springs will be rated the same, but I would opt for a set of HD springs and a decent set of shock absorbers to help with the load. That should ensure trouble free motoring for a long time. Remember to load your trailer so that you do not exceed the max tow ball downward weight. Check out this site for more info **CLICK HERE**
You will probably not find much difference in performance as the engines are the same, but I think that the independent suspension on the commodore has some short comings. better off with the ute. Cheers Mark
