Airbag warning light flashes 3 times paues then flashes twice, engine

What has probably happened is that over the extended period of not being started, the Body Electronics Module (BEM) has most likely lost the codes for the electronic lock assembly and will need to be re-learnt.

Info below is taken from a tech bulletin on various Ford models and should help you:

Body Electronics Module/Smart lock

The Body Electronics Module controls a number of features on the vehicle including things such as:
• Power windows
• Front and rear wiper/washers
• Remote entry
• Dome light operation

All Falcons from EA use a Body Electronics Module (B.E.M.), including XG & XH ute. And immobilisation (Smart lock or Smart Shield) did not appear until late EB production. The immobiliser (or Smart lock module) on EB & ED Falcon (and XG ute) is separate to the B.E.M. During the production of the AU Falcon, Ford changed from “Smart lock” immobilisation to “Smart Shield”. With AU2/3 vehicles which use Smart Shield it is necessary to use a scan tool to link the keys to the B.E.M. and also to link the B.E.M. to the P.C.M.

Smart lock operation
The immobiliser controls engine cranking & running
• By interrupting the crank signal from the ignition switch
• Sending an electronically coded signal to the P.C.M., without which the P.C.M. will not function (no spark or injection)

Dome light Fuse
On EB & ED vehicles the dome light (interior light) fuse is used to supply power to the Smart lock module. If this fuse blows the vehicle will not start (and the warning jewel will not flash)!

Smart lock relearn procedure
When changing a Smart lock module you will need to download the electronic lock assembly codes before you can start the car, to do this use the following procedure.
• Make sure ignition key is off and connect replacement smart lock module.
• With the ignition turned to the off position, the warning jewel (red LED on dash) will flash the armed code (short flash with longer pause)
• Turn the ignition to the run position and leave there. (After a short time the warning jewel will flash rapidly.
• After 30 minutes (or 61 minutes for AU1), the door locks will change state twice and the warning jewel will go out.
• Turn the ignition off for at least 30 seconds, until the warning jewel displays the armed code.
• Verify the system by starting the engine.
• On AU2/3 vehicles which use Smart Shield it is necessary to use a scan tool to link the keys to the B.E.M. (both keys are required to do this) and also to link the B.E.M. to the P.C.M.




Remote (keypad) training
1. The ignition switch should be off and the warning jewel flashing.
2. Turn the ignition to the accessory position and within 5 seconds, press the boot release (EB-ED) (tailgate unlock for wagons) or rear demister (EF-AU) on the dash switch exactly three times.
3. After five seconds is up, the door locks will change state indicating that the Smart lock module has entered learn mode. All existing keypad codes will be erased.
4. Press either of the buttons on the keypad. The door locks will change state to indicate that the smart lock module has learned the keypad.
5. Follow step four for each keypad. You can train the Smart lock module to accept up to four keypads. You must teach all keys at the same time.
6. When all the remotes have been accepted, turn the ignition off. The door locks will change state to indicate return to normal mode.

Keypad training for utes with no rear demister.
Ground the keypad training pin in the diagnostic connector three times (located under the driver’s side dash). Pin is located in the top row, second in from the right.


As for draining the fuel out of the tank, if the pump does not work then your best bet is to syphon it out.
