Do you have a problem with the interior light at all? I ask this because the power supply to the smartlock module comes from the interior light fuse (don't ask me why, just a peculiar Ford thing!) and if this is being interrupted it could cause your symptom. Check this fuse and particularly the contacts in the fuse box for corrosion etc.
Let me know how you go with this.

VerifiedGiddayCustomer and Sorry to jump in Matt, just thought I might add my two cents. Clappy you said it takes you 40 mins to key the key into the system. Are you doing it correctly? Maybe try this procedure.
1 turn the key to acc
2 press the demister button 3 times in quick sucsession the demist light should light up on the dash and the door locks will cycle "lock and unlock twice" (If not the demister than press the boot release button on the dash x3 if you have one
3 now push your door button on the remote while it is still in the ign on acc and the doors should unlock now do the same to the boot button on the remote and that should unlock
4 now remove the key and open the door and go outside and the buttons should lock and unlock the doors.Cheers Mark
