Customer: My tarago van recently (4-6wks) burnt some wiring when the starter motor decided to stay on after i let the key go. Fixed the starter and wiring so i thought, until 2 days ago. Started to play up by starter motor only clicking in and not turning to start the car. one relay switch gets warm so changed that and then checked wiring to and from relay. Now all is good i think???? No, even with a good battery and a jump start it sounds like theres no power. It just turns over. ?Should i just get another wiring loom and replace it. I also ckecked radiator as had small overheating prob and theres a stream of continuous tiny bubles in the top. I was told that the head is cracked. ?Is it possible that the head is cracked or just the head gasket and how can i tell?.

Hi there,
The symptoms of starter continung to crank after the key is released points to a bad ignition switch. Do the following test to confirm if it is the switch that is causing the engine not to start.
1. Slowly turn ignition switch to ON. Does the dash lights shows? Lights should be steady with no flickering or going OFF.
2. Slowly turn to crank and watch the dash lights. Charge indicator should remain ON when cranking.
If conditions not met for above, the ignition switch is bad.
The head does not crack easily and if it is, the engine oil should be contaminated with coolant turning the oil milky. A pressure test would be requred to confirm if the head is bad.
