I have an 06 Audi A6 S line 4.2 that I just got from an auction. This is what I get:
P0056 - O2 Sensor Heater Contr. Circ.(Bank2 Sensor 2) -
DTC Status: SporadicP1672 - Fan 1 Control circuit Open circuit /short circuit to ground
DTC Status: (blank)P1900 - Fan 2 control circuit Open circuit/Short to ground
DTC Status: (blank)P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
DTC Status: (blank)P0301 - Cyl. 1 Misfire Detected
DTC Status: (blank)P0303 - Cyl. 3 Misfire Detected
DTC Status: (blank)
Since then I have replaced the following:
put in a new battery from pep boys
All spark plugs with Iridium NGK (the person before me had 4 different plugs installed)
All new coils packs
on one side (to test for Cylinder 7) i replaced the coil pack harness because all four would not hold their connections to the coils
Changed the oil and filter
put in fuel injector cleaner (although i have not ran it long enough for it to even do much.
It runs a little better but still has a rough idle. Never dulling out.Any ideas?

Hi, my name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist with this today. In some cases, I may need more info to assist better.I apologize for any delay.

The first thing to do here is to clear out all fault codes with a scan tool then operate the vehicle and see which codes come back again just in case some of these codes are old history codes that do not apply anymore with the issue that is occurring. If it still runs rough you may have a fault with an injector not atomizing properly and the cleaner may help but in some cases, the injectors have to be professionally cleaned or the affected injector replaced. If you can clear them out and post back here again which codes are still coming up this will help just let me know.

If more help is needed, use the reply tab to continue our conversation. If no further assistance is needed, kindly rate my service, your 5-star rating is appreciated ( should be a link to click on here or above). You can rate at any time and we can continue to work on your question as this will not close out your question.I work on delivering the best answer and help here but in some cases, it can be difficult to do without seeing the vehicle.

Thanks Pete

HI Pete!
Thank you for assisting me with this. I will do what you suggest today. I ordered VDCS last night and it should be here today; I ordered it overnight. I currently use a LAunch C123 to scan and I didn't think that was going to get every code I need. I was thinking it wasn't telling me Audi specific codes that would lead me to the injectors.I will rescan when I get back home today.

Quick thought,
Before I consulted with you, I ordered a new fuel filter with regulator. Should I go ahead and install that when I get back home or just wait?
Audi Mechanic: peterpete190, Technician replied 7 months ago

If it hasnt been replaced yet I would replace it.But if it was replaced in the last few years you should be o.k.

I’m sure it hasn’t because the oil was the darkest I’ve seen but no metal shavings that I could pick up with a heavy magnet so I am sure they used low grade gas as well.
Audi Mechanic: peterpete190, Technician replied 7 months ago

It would be a good idea to put it on there then.If it is partially plugged up it could cause a misfire issue or rough running and even a lean running condition.

Inspect the wiring running from the engine computer and see if any wiring is damaged needing repaired or replaced to resolve this fault here.Inspect for any loose connections at the engine computer as well as leading from it for any issues. If this is all checked and found o.k. let me know.

Let me know if you need anything else and feel free to rate my help here or above ( should be a link to click on ) as this is how I receive credit for my time, this can be done at any time and you can still come back here and reply if needed.Your 5-star rating is appreciated

Thanks Pete
