Do you know if this car has another module for steering assist (44)? If you do, you may have to try and do the basic setting thru it instead of the abs.

Ask Your Own Audi Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

It does not. I tried connecting to module and nothing

Ok. Have you done a all-fault scan of all the modules? Maybe try that and see if there is any other modules related to steering other than the abs.

did you check basic settings in (16)?

Ask Your Own Audi Question

Also, looks like no comm with the gateway, i would see if you can talk to (19). Also, it appears your instrument cluster is still coded as a automatic, i would change that too.

Ask Your Own Audi Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

No response from 19

How do you recode cluster?

Have you successfully recoded other modules? same way. go to coding in (17), when you scroll over the number section for coding, it should give you a drop down menu of the available options and what digits mean what.

Ask Your Own Audi Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

Yeah but there are no digits that have anything to do with auto vs manual tranny

I guess more importantly why is alignment status locked after login and coding is complete

Thats what im trying to figure out. You said you had no response from 19, did you have any response from 16? Depending on how the vehicle is equipped (g-85 in the column, g-85 in the steering gear), changes what module that basic setting is done in.

Ask Your Own Audi Question

also, is this a b6 or b7 chassis? thanks.

b6

gotit to finally take it but now these codes come up

35-10 - - - Intermittent

Ok. Was just cruising thru the ross tech wiki, came across this:

Basic Setting

Steering Angle Sensor (G85) Calibration

Before starting the procedure turn the steering wheel at least 30 ° left and back straight ahead.

[Meas. Blocks - 08]
Group 005 Field 1 (Steering Angle Sensor -G85-)
Specification: 0.0 °
Tolerance (when straight): ±5.0 °
[Done, Go Back]

[Login - 11]
Enter 40168
[Do It!]

[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 001
[Go!]
[Done, Go Back]

[Fault Codes - 02]
All fault codes should have disappeared.
[Done, Go Back]

Special Notes

  • Some of the Bosch 5.7 modules will not show live Steering Angle Sensor (G85) readings after the Login and Coding are performed. If this is the case -2.5 ° may be stuck in Measuring Block 005 and will not change when the wheel is turned. Make the wheels as straight as possible and continue with the Steering Angle Sensor (G85) Calibration.
  • After doing the G85 Calibration, you may get a 01486 - System Function Test Active, this is normal. Please see 01486.

01486 - System Function Test activated

Possible Symptoms

  • Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON

Possible Causes

  • When found in Brake Electronics Control Module (J104)
    • Brake Electronics Function Test activated

Possible Solutions

Special Notes

  • Might be stored in Combination with B10B3/037043 in Airbag Control Module (J234), if so perform Function Test first.
  • If the Brake Electronics Function Test procedure will not complete and fault codes are stored in other Powertrain Databus control modules diagnose those issues before replacing ESP components.

yeah been doing that process all morning

It finally took it and alignment status is ok now but did function test on test drive but lights stayed on which is unusual

try clearing faults after?

Ask Your Own Audi Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

yes but those 2 come back

I would chase the 01435 brake pressure sensor first, might have to go thru the function test again. Ive gotta run, ill touch base later, good luck.

Ask Your Own Audi Question

Brake pressure is varying between 1.3 and 1.9 bar at idle

Do want what vagcom brings up as number or one off black module itself

vag com. Just want to make sure you have the same version, looks like the car can have bosch 5.3, 5.7 or 8.0. 8.0 uses the lateral and longituginal sensor g419.This is determined by the center number. your current module shows that it is the bosch 5.7. When I ran your vin, it says its supposed to have the 8.0 version. Is it a quattro or 2wd? thanks

Ask Your Own Audi Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

quattro

shoulfdI put old module back in and see if i can recode it to a manual transmission?

Wouldnt hurt. The part# ***** your current module is 8E0 614 517 (H). I just want to know if your old one was something like 8EO 910 517.

Ask Your Own Audi Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

they r the same. That is number on pump. The actual module numbers might be different

Ok. The brake pressure sensor changes with pedal application. I think that is the only thing keeping on the esp light. Im not sure what else we can check at this point, i would shoot an email to ross tech about what your doing, they give support if you have there products.

Ask Your Own Audi Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

ok so put old one back in and got it to recode after a few tries.

All lights in dash are off but as soon as i hit brakes the absand esp light come back and and give that P1848 G201 sensor.

I replaced sensor and same

found this : When found in Bosch ESP Brake Systems:

  • The Bosh 5.x ABS modules drop communication at road speeds which makes it difficult, if not impossible, to log live measuring block data. If the Brake Light Switch is suspected as faulty and causing a G201 fault:
    • Try logging the Engine or Transmission for brake light switching.
    • Drive with the Cruise Control on and see if the system works as per design. If the CCS will not operate or the CCS does not shut off when the brakes are applied the Brake Light Switch may be faulty.

And this:

01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201): No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation

Possible Symptoms

  • Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active

Possible Causes

  • Basic Setting not performed

Possible Solutions

  • Perform Basic Setting

01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201): Electrical Fault in Circuit

Possible Causes

  • Brake Pedal Switch (F) faulty/jammed
  • Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201) faulty

Possible Solutions

  • Check/Replace Brake Pedal Switch (F)
    • See Measuring Blocks
  • Check/Replace Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
    • ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55) may need to replaced
    • Perform Brake Pump Bleeding
    • Perform Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201) Basic Setting
    • Replace Brake Electronics Control Module (J104)

Special Notes

  • When found in RoW (Rest of World) MK60 ABS/ESP Brake Systems check to see if the Repair Kit documented in the following TPIs is compatible:

If Part Number 1K0-698-517-B is compatible, using the Repair Kit allows to replace the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (which contains the (N55) Hydraulic Unit and (G201) the Brake Pressure Sensor 1) separate from the Control Module which will reduce the Repair Costs.

01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201): Implausible Signal

Possible Symptoms

  • Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active

Possible Causes

  • Brake Pedal Switch (F) faulty/jammed
  • Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201) faulty

Possible Solutions

  • Check/Replace Brake Pedal Switch (F)
    • See Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
  • Check Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
    • See Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
  • Check/Replace Brake Electronics Control Module (J104) and/or ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55)

Hopefully the information I supplied helped. Please leave me a 5 star rating, if you do not feel I deserve a 5 star rating, please let me know ahead of time and I will make sure I have done all that I can to assist you, thank you.

do you know which measuring block it is? I cant find one for the G201

You said you were reading it," brake pressure is varying between 1.3 1nd 1.9 at idle".

Ask Your Own Audi Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

ok so that is it. R those readings correct?

did you say that you replaced it? I would graph it out with ross tech, then gradually push it down and watch the reading. Also, check the operation of the brake light switch as well.
