Matt, i have a 2011 Audi R8 V10 Spyder. The electric engine

Customer Question

Hi Matt, i have a 2011 Audi R8 V10 Spyder. The electric engine hood release is not working. The switch (behind the drivers seat) activates, you can hear it engage but the lid does not release.
The manual pull cable (behind the passanger seat) works fine.

if you can hear the solenoid clicking when you press the button I'd say the catch just needs a little lubrication

so I'd 1st try using the manual release to open the hood and then apply some general purpose grease to the catch and hook

if this doesn't help then check that the catch moves with the hood open and when your assistant presses the button

Hello , I did grease the catch and it operates smoothly with the manual pull. The solenoid clicks but the latch does not move when the switch is pressed. What does the solenoid actuate?

the solenoid should pull the latch directly to allow the hood to 'pop'

so I'd say that its likely to be a broken plastic link on the catch

How do I replace that.

the whole catch assembly will have to be replaced

Can you tell me the procedural sequence for changing that out or a shop manual diagram of what to remove to replace it?

Sorry I don't have that data
